Vanilla Brown Sugar - Experiment # 4

*Evil laugh*

Am I sending you over the edge yet? Sorry folks, I swear there is a reasoning for this.

So how are you all doing today? Anything new?

Okay on to the next one. Lol!

Vanilla Brown Sugar:

Ingredients:

1 1/2 brown sugar
2 vanilla beans

Directions:

Method 1- Cut open and scrape out the bean paste and stick it in your food processor with the sugar, pulse until blended. Store in an air tight container.

Method 2- Stick the beans in a container of sugar for a few days or a week.

Method 3- Combine method 1 and 2.

I used method 3. Here's how it looks.

Toodles and smoochies. xx

  1. Kim! You've had quite a day in the lab...I mean the kitchen! Of all of your experiments...which one had the most vanilla taste? I was just thinking of making some vanilla sugar! Good job with this! : )

  3. Lol, I know right. I've been in there for days, going mad. I like them all for different reasons. The sugar is the bomb, if I had to pick only one that would be it. Second would probably be the vanilla brown sugar as I think it would rock on warm toast. I have actual vanilla brewing too, but it's not ready yet. Thanks so much. I took so many pics I lost the light for my fraisers. Might have to wait until tomorrow to post them. The light is not good on the pics.

  4. @ Jen- for baking doll. Cookies, cakes, bars, fudge, anything you use vanilla in. The salt it for seafood and fish and is good on veggies. The taste of fresh vanilla bean is SO much better than bottled vanilla. My house smells incredible right now.

  6. Dzoli- This is the first time I've bought vanilla beans. Not easy to find here so I went into the city. Smells so good. I am loving the smell of the house right now. I would guess you can use it in just about anything.

  17. Hi Kim! You've been busy! I love the vanilla sugars/oats posts...I'm wondering what you have up your sleeve for these items! I've heard of vanilla sugar, but not oats...SO clever and I'm sure it's way better than store bought vanilla oats. Way to go!

  19. Haha, love the vanilla sugar posts! I made vanilla sugar for the first time recently, but I did it the easy way and mixed white sugar with pure vanilla extract. I'm totally intrigued by these posts!
