Steak Saturdays- Super Easy Rib Steak

Hi folks. I know it's been awhile since a recipe has appeared. Sorry but it's been a really crazy week. So much going on and just not enough hours in the day. So I shall try and catch up over the next couple of days.

Yesterday we did our weekly tour for fruits and veggies. Had a fun day until we had lunch. For those of you who don't already know I have a very serious case of IBS, it pretty much rules my life much of the time. I will start to feel great for weeks or months at a time, then it feels it necessary to remind me it's still in control. This happened yesterday after we had a blah lunch at Pizza Hut. I was not impressed with the location, usually I quite like their food. Kiana reminded me later that I got sick last time we ate at that location as well. That was last year some time so I had forgotten all about it. We ordered pizza and mine was a bit undercooked. Which oddly enough I like mine a little undercooked anyway. But this was way too undercooked and I should have known better. I was starved after being out all day so even though I thought it was a bit light I figured it was okay. Well yah my stomach did not agree with me. We had left and got about 10 minutes away right in the middle of boonieland and my tummy went nuts. I found the one gas station in the small town and had to wait 10 minutes while the dude finished his phone convo. Needless to say myself and about 10 other people were a bit chuffed. Bad episode, not good, never eating there again. I was viciously ill. So needless to say yesterday was a write off once I got home. Took us awhile to get home as I had to wait until the tummy mellowed before driving another 20 minutes out in the middle of nowhere. So not like you really want to hear about all this but I'm telling you anyway. Does anyone else have IBS? I've had it for 16 years, and have been told I'm the second worst case in Canada. It makes my life a challenge. I have to be so careful what I eat, when I eat, and where I go. Most days I try to just ignore it and go on with my life. But a day like yesterday reminds me why I don't work at a job behind a cash register. Lol! Anyhow I still feel yucky today. I was up almost all night, and then finally fell asleep this morning and then could not get up. I've had a migraine all day today and lack of energy. Hate getting sick. Unfortunately it's part of my life. Any time I start to feel normal it has to remind me I am not. I don't talk about it too much. It's just a part of my life. One I'd gladly give up for sure. Anyhow that's why I have not been commenting or visiting too many blogs the last 24 hours. I was out all day yesterday then sick all night. I visited a few but not as many as usual. Life, whatcha gonna do.

So I hope everyone has had a great week. I know most of us look so forward to the weekends. I have about a week to get the house ready for my house guests who are going to be here next weekend. Yup, my brother's camera is coming to visit again. Er, I mean my brother is coming to visit. His lovely girlfriend is coming this time so yah, we get to go shopping. Not that I can shop right now. But I most certainly can watch her shop. Be her personal shopping assistant. So much fun. If it's not too hot I may do my famous cheesecake while they are here. If I do I shall be sure to post it. It has not appeared here yet. So I think some people are patiently waiting for it. It is incredible if I do say so my self. One of my best but expensive to make so I don't do it too often. It's also quite rich so not something you want to eat too often. But dang is it good, like push your gramma down for a slice good. Not that I'd ever do that. That would be wrong.

Okay so I made some rib steaks the other night. I have made and posted rib steaks before. I love steak, I love rib steak, I love everything but sirloin quite frankly. So this is just a slight variation. This one is just fast, and easy I was hungry and wanted a no fuss recipe. So this is it. Hope you enjoy!

Super Easy Rib Steaks:

Ingredients:

2 large rib steaks
Salt to taste (I like Himalayan)
Pepper to taste
Garlic powder to taste (mine would be equal to about 1/2 teaspoon)
Onion powder to taste (mine would be equal to about 1/2 teaspoon)
Barbecue sauce to taste (I use a lot, about 1/4 cup for just 2 steaks)

Directions:

Take your steaks out of the fridge about 30 minutes prior to cooking.

Preheat and oil your grill before cooking. I preheat about 10-15 minutes before cooking so it gets quite hot.

Place steaks on a board or plate and sprinkle your spices over each side prior to grilling. I put the salt on last.

Place on hot grill and then turn it down to about a medium heat. Put the lid down right away. Let cook for about 3 minutes.

Flip and put barbecue sauce on cooked side. Shut lid and cook for 3 minutes.

Lol!) Cook for 3 minutes.

Flip once more so both side get sauce seared into it. Put lid down and cook for about 3 minutes.

Take off the grill and let stand for about 5 minutes.

Serve with a barbecue sauced smile.

Tips- the cook time can vary depending on your grill. Also depending on how you like your steak done. We like well done here. Crispy edges. So feel free to adjust cook time if you need to. Mine was also cooked at a super high, hot heat. My sauce was Bulls Eye Bold.

So good. I could eat steak every day. We had these Wednesday night. So I am due to have more steak tonight. Don't be surprised if I pop on another recipe by day's end. Just seeing them makes me want steak. But it's 1:30 am so not sure the neighbours would appreciate me grilling this late at night.

The corn I just did on the stove. I boil  mine. I really like it that way. I think our corn season is nearing an end. Which is such a bummer, as I love me some corn. Maybe I'll pick up more for dinner. Wanna come over?

Toodles and smoochies. xx

  4. Great timing to post this recipe. Had I not had leftovers from Texas Roadhouse I'd be one unhappy camper reading this post and seeing those photos. I know it's only 7 a.m. here but I am ready to reheat those leftovers now. Haha! Your steak looks amazing. Oh my!

  6. This looks delicious! Sorry you weren't feeling well. :( I hope today is a better day. Looking forward to your cheesecake post. And I love the look of those little breads next to the steak. Yum!

  7. I love this steak! I have to make my own BBQ sauce (allergies) but I like the flavor combo. I'm sorry your tummy was acting up and I hope you feel better soon. We would vary greatly on cooking times - I like my steak medium-rare to rare. It's okay to be under done, but I don't like it over done!

  9. @Dzoli- Thanks. It was so good. I like the outside crisp and the inside like butter. lol

@Yetsky- Thank you. I hope you like it.

@Simply Life- So easy. Just boil it for about 6-8 minutes on a hard boil. SO good!

@Pretend Chef- I honestly could eat steak every day. It's just so good. And I like it simple, just cooked with a few spices and bbq sauce. Easy peasy.

    @Liz- Me tooooooooooooo! Thanks!

@kristy- Thanks. I am much better. Takes about 24 hours to go away. Sadly it happens a lot. Part of ibs. I am posting the bread today so be sure to check it out. Easiest garlic bread in the world. lol

@Ann- I love to make my own but never think to make up a huge batch. Ibs blows, bad day. I am opposite, if I see pink I won't eat it. I have a thing about pink even though I know the top chefs like it that way. I have spent a ton of time trying to figure out how to get the outside slightly crisp and charred on the edge but the inside so moist you can cut it with a spoon. lol. This fast and hot method works fab.

I like thin crust pizza but the fam likes thick. I like light crust, they like dark. It's why I make multiples every single time. Lol! We looked like tools the other day at pizza hut. 2 girls and we ordered 2 pizzas. But she likes one way and I like another. Luckily the guys like leftovers.
