Or you could be like me and sit in the computer room in pajama pants and a tank top. Whatever works! It's my daily garb, unless I am going out. Then it's time to dress up and that calls for jeans and a nicer tank top. Perhaps a long loose sweater if it's chilly. Yup, life of a rock star people. If I could just afford some Uggs my life would be complete. Sad, sad state of affairs. Okay so I'll admit I got dressed today, but only as I had to drive mini-me to the U, and only out of fear that if my ibs went berserk I wouldn't want to be running in a restaurant to use their loo looking like I just got done a 5 mile run. I mean I didn't actually run 5 miles but, you know, they might think that with the lack of effort I put it most days. So I am in brown pinstriped dress pants and a pretty coral blouse at the moment. But I have on fuzzy boot slippers just to be a rebel. They are not Uggs though. So the dream is not complete. You have to draw the line somewhere. Apparently my line is at my feet. Who knew?
Okay so I have been remiss at posting awards. I have to admit I feel weird about it. I know I seem like the kind of gal who would shout her accomplishments from the rooftops but I am actually really shy. Particularly when it comes to this sort of thing. It could be partly due to being an at home mom. I mean it's not like I win awards being a mom, or get accolades for cooking dinner every day. So I think I am just out of practice. And yes I realize you are all still stuck on the part about me admitting to being shy. Really, it's true. Ask any real life friend. I am much better now that I am older but I grew up being so shy I could not order my own food at a restaurant until I was in my 20's. I could not speak in front of people. And goodness help me if a whole room of people focused on me, it usually meant me running out of the room crying. I've come a long way over the years but the shyness is still there, lurking. I have learned to be more open largely due to my kids. I mean kids can equal embarrassment out in public. So after 23 years I've learned to let go of that stuff. I also used to have this tiny little girlie voice. That has deepened over 23 years of making my point with the kids. I mean what kid is going to take their mom seriously if she sounds like Minnie Mouse. So the voice is a bit deeper, but I still go into shy mode whenever I am out of my element. Which given my element is taking care of kids, and cooking, and cleaning, well everything outside the house is out of my element.
I wanted to share these awards as the people who gave them to me took the time to be kind and generous. So this is in homage to them, the kind hearted people who accept me for all my quirkiness and weird ramblings. The ones who find worth in what I have to say and share. I did not want you all to think these awards didn't mean anything to me as they do. I was just uncomfortable posting them until now. So I am putting them all here in one post with a huge thank you to everyone. I adore the blogging community and you guys have all welcomed me with open arms and open hearts. As did the fans. And for a gal like me who's been stuck in the house talking to herself for 23 years, well it's nice to finally come out of the shadows and find my voice and a place I belong. So thanks everyone. You all mean the world to me.

So here goes:
My Most Beautiful Post has to go to the Black Forest Cheesecakes. I mean foodgawker finally accepted a photo from me so this just has to be the one.
My Most Popular Post has to go to The Best Brownies in the World. These things caused quite a stir and lots of debate. I think they were the first thing of mine to hit Foodbuzz top 9 as well. And sorry folks but they really are the best brownies in the world.
My Most Controversial Post does not have a picture. It was one dedicated to my Mom
My Most Helpful Post has to be my tab called My Favourite Things (yes we spell it that way in Canada!). Which while we are on the subject I promise to update that this week and then start updating it at least once a month.
My Most Surprisingly Successful Post is a tie between the aforementioned best brownies in the world and my Marble Pistachio Bark. The response was overwhelming. The bark even got a shout out on The Shiksa Picks which blew my mind completely. I am ever grateful.
The Post That Did Not Get The Attention It Deserved is hard. I still am in shock people read so wondering why some aren't successful feels odd. Like being ungrateful or something. But in the spirit of this game if I have to pick it would have to be my Sex on the WTF post. But in all honesty I had like 3 or 4 people reading at the time so I don't think anyone knows it exists. Honestly the best dessert I've ever had, totally not kidding.
The Post I Am Most Proud Of has nothing to do with food. It's a post about a family excursion. The back story here is something I don't talk about much on the blog. My blog is a happy place. But the truth of the matter is this family has had some rough times the last few years and without a big speech about it, I'll just say life has sucked for us. We've been through alot and it takes a toll on my kids. So to have a day where we just let our hair down and enjoyed a day with family at a special place is just amazing. The post was titled This is what happens when crazy people leave the asylum!
So that is it folks. I am going to forgo handing these out to specific blogs as I would be here all night passing these on. So if you are reading this these awards are yours as anyone who keeps coming back day in and day out to read little old me deserves all these awards. You guys rock my world and I am so grateful to the blogging community for accepting me and welcoming me into the fold. I have made so many wonderful friends both bloggers and fans. I really cannot thank you all enough for the joy it brings me to know people are reading. I enjoy the cooking end of things so very much. I also really love the writing aspect of blogging so that has been a huge perk. I adore getting comments and emails. It makes my days brighter to have you all stop by here. I only hope I brighten yours in turn.
Oh okay so I'll hand out one award. Just to myself. Here self!!!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations and you deserve all the recognition in the world - you're an awesome blogger and friend! My wish for you is a new set of Award Winning Uggs....
ReplyDeleteAttending the awards night ... Dress Code: Pajama bottoms and torn tank top. Oh .. and furry slippers (how could I have forgotten that very important detail).
ReplyDeleteHello, dear Kim, I haven't been following you long but already I'm totally in love with your posts and ramblings. Congrats on all the awards (even the last one)! Very well deserved.
Kim, you are the funniest blogger I know! You are the only one who made me giggle and laugh after midnight. Thanks for making me happy! Congratulations on all these awards!
ReplyDeletecute, this is one chain post I actually made time for, it was really fun. It even made an awareness on how popular some of your posts were etc. I love everything you posted will have to go check out the ones you picked, enjoy your holiday season and make lots more memories!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love you and your blog, Kim...you put it all out there and we can ALL relate! We'll share war stories some day, OK? I just wear yoga clothes all day...no effort and people think I look disheveled because I've been working out :) You deserve every.single.award, my friend!
ReplyDeleteMy those awards did pile up, but I am glad you got over your shyness and announced these. Very well deserved, your posts always bring a smile to my face! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all your well deserved awards and putting a smile on my face while I read this post! :)
ReplyDeleteYou totally deserve the awards given to you. I adore your blog and always come away with a smile...and a little rumbly in my tummy from the delicious food.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I thought I was the only one who never posts their awards. I'm sure there's some sort of deep thing behind that. ha! It's not that I'm not grateful, obviously. It's just that I'm so scatterbrained and cleaning up after the darling crazies (boys ages 5 and 18 mos), I always MEAN to do it, but never really get around to it, you know? It's just difficult to always remember what I got and from whom and when and what I was supposed to do..yadda yadda (further excuses).
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible, I know. lol! Congratulations on all of your well deserved awards. I'm sorry you had some rough times, but so happy you were/are able to enjoy life and slow down a bit. Congratulations!
I had a blast at your black tie awards ceremony. Of course all the awards are well deserved. You need to get an award for being able to remember all those awards. Wow! Take a bow lady... well deserved. Loved reading the seven links part too. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay that last picture/award did me in- sooo funnny!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I know how it is to have a post you just love, but no one reads--I've been contemplating having a "vintage" post periodically so I can repost those items and see if they get some attention the second time around.
ReplyDeleteyay Kim!! You deserve all of those. I feel ya on the shy part. I'm the same way; online persona is SOOOOO not the one I am day to day.
ReplyDeleteLook at you with all these awards! You deserve them all! And I love your 7 links! Going to check out some of them now!
ReplyDeleteHeheehe. This is a really funny post. I love reading your blog.
ReplyDelete@Anne- Lol thanks. It's cold out so wear your thermals under your p.j.'s.
ReplyDelete@Ann- Lol, I followed your lead and posted mine. Just took me forever. I shall wish your wish comes true! Thanks for always being supportive my friend. I appreciate it.
@ping- rofl, that is me in a nutshell most days. I am glad I amuse you. You always make me grin when you stop by.
@Nami- Aw, thank you so much. You are so sweet. I have to say I love blogging and I hope it shines through.
@Claudia- Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy seeing you. I had fun doing this. Hope your holidays are truly spectacular!
@Lizzy- Thank you so much. You are too sweet. You know I adore you too adopted mother of mine!
@Tina- I was lucky I saved all the info with the good intentions to do it one day. One day just took awhile. Lol. Thanks so much. You are always so supportive. I appreciate it.
@Jennifer- Aw, thank you so much. You are sweet. I love to entertain people.
@Kristen- Thank you. I am always happy to make someone's tummy growl. Lol!
@Kate- Oh my, two young ones. How do you find time to blog girl. I remember those days well. It is so hard to fit it all in. And thank you. I am lucky to be one of those people who can power through. I refuse to get all boo-hoo-ey most days. Just not how I roll. Now go post your awards girlfriend. lol
@Curry and Comfort- Lol, I should get one for that right. I had bookmarked everything thank goodness. Just took awhile to track everything down. Hopefully I didn't forget any or I will get the award for the person who forgets stuff.
@Katrina- Lol, thanks. I had fun with this as you can tell.
@Cucina- Not a bad idea. It always amazes me which ones people love and others they don't. I can never quite figure it out. Luckily I blog from the hip and don't over think or I'd drive myself nuts.
@Janet- Lol, the shy thing is just part of me. But the goofball part is a huge part too. The way I talk on here is how I act in front of my family, which is why they don't like to be seen with me. I have issues and embarrass them often. The shyness is receding, thank goodness. I don't do well in crowds though. One on one or small groups I am okay. But crowds and speaking in front of them is tough. And thank you. I get the feeling we'll be giggling like schoolgirls when we meet one day.
@Stephanie- Thank you so much. I had fun with this. The one with the kids is fun. Long but gives you a real glimpse into my world.
@Grubarazzi- Thank you so much. I love that you love it. xx
Lol! I wanna be like you when I grow up!! (kidding about the grow up part, he he) I couldn't believe the shyness part but it gives me hope that there can be a better future for very shy people, like myself :-)
ReplyDelete@Ruth- Lol, wow that is a first. Most people tell me to grow up. Rofl. Honestly it's a battle. But I am so much better. Ask mini-me, I can now embarrass her in public instead of the other way around. I still get the shy feeling but I just push past when I can. Talking in public in front of a large group will always bug me though.
ReplyDeleteKim,,,sorry i just read this post,Congrats on those awards, you deserve it.
ReplyDeletehahaha I love the award for your self :) Funny,,,
