Hi folks. I wanted to whip up a quick dip for all you football fans out there. I mean just because I hate sports and am boycotting the Superbowl doesn't mean I can't feed you right. Okay so I am not so much "boycotting" as I am "not watching it". But you know same dif right.
So here is another example of me making things I do not eat. Kim does not do dip. Unless it's fruit dip, then I may partake. But veggie and taco dips not so much. I mean it's food....touching. I'd need a therapist after. I can do nachos and cheese. But only if the cheese is just cheese and not tomatoes tossed in or any other weird concoctions most people find "normal". I really was not kidding when I named this blog "lunatic". I have enough food issues to keep 10 therapists in the money and retire them like kings I swear. I whipped this one up for the dudes. While they watch the stupid Superbowl I shall be watching something girlie like "13 going on 30", or "catch and release" or "last of the mohicans". Just sayin'. Sometimes being a girl is just more fun. There may even be nail polish involved. Run for your life dudes. This chick does chick stuff. But eats like a dude. Except taco dip. Cuz that's just all kinds of wrong.
And on that note here's your dip. I mean now that I've made it all sound so magical you must just be chomping at the bit to try it.
Oh before I rattle on about something else that's sure to rile up the dudes, since I don't do dip I had to look one up. I found a good one on Kraft Kitchen but then changed it a little bit. Cuz...you know....I know so much about dip and all.
Taco or Chip Dip for Dudes or Chicks Who Like Football aka Not Me!
Source: slightly adapted from Kraft Kitchens
Ingredients:
1 cup miracle whip dressing
1 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup salsa
1/2 cup shredded medium cheddar cheese
Directions:
Mix your miracle whip, sour cream and taco seasoning in a bowl. I find whisking it works well.
Now put that mixture into what you are serving the dip in and fill about 1/2 way up.
Now add your salsa over top.
Now sprinkle with cheese.
Serve with chips and a big old jersey wearing smile.
*no nails were broken or chipped while making this dip, whew*
I missed FUN WITH JARS FRIDAY this week so thought I would put the dip in jars to make up for it. I did miss a post this week. I apologize since I have been working really hard to be more consistent and post on a regular schedule. We've had a weird week so I got off kilter for a day. Those who follow me on facebook know I am having some issues with my leg, they think it's possibly plantar fascitiis so yesterday was spent getting more Xrays. This was yesterday's adventure as posted on facebook:
Ya, so the rest of the day was painful and I ordered dinner instead of making what was planned. I also laid on the couch most of the night. I'm not going to lie, I totally enjoyed being a bit lazy for a couple hours.
So hope you all enjoy Superbowl Sunday or as I like to call it "Kim gets the upstairs TV and watches chick flicks all day". The dudes get banished to the dungeon. And have to wear headphones. Cuz I not only don't wanna watch it, I don't wanna hear it either. Booyah! Take that dudes.
Toodles and smoochies. xx
I don't like football... Please, stop throwing rotted tomato my way!
ReplyDeleteMe either. Ick!
DeleteI will be watching the funny commercials but not glued to the game. Also enjoying a few drinks and some eats. Like your quick dip here-tasty layers.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your Xray story, I am thinking that my sense of humor leaves as soon as I walk into a hospital!
Enjoy the girlie stuff this weekend.
I like the commercials, hopefully they post to youtube after. Lol.
DeleteI tend to laugh through most things these days, takes the edge off.
I can understand not watching the game, but I can't wrap my brain around all the amazing foods your missing on because they touch. Wow. Maybe it's because you're using Miracle Whip instead of mayo? Maybe? :O
ReplyDeleteRofl...it's like a sickness. I can't help myself. And lol at the mayo comment. I get violently ill if I touch or eat straight up mayo. So I try to keep it out of the house. I don't think I've mentioned that before on the blog. It's the worst food reaction I have. Not sure why. Hubby loves mayo though. Occasionally he sneaks some in.
DeleteThis sounds and looks so delicious!! And please don't take this the wrong way because I have issues too, but you have issues ;) heheheh!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. And Lol! I do and freely admit it. I also have to get a new plate if I go back for seconds. No matter what the food is. I should be committed, seriously!
DeleteI am picturing myself as the dip gets down to the end. I'd have the jar up to my mouth with my tongue stuck in it trying to get the last bit. By then, the dip from the other side of the rim would be sticking to my bangs and perhaps my nose. I think you'd better keep me away from jars.
ReplyDeleteLol I think you should do a demo at the conference. I think jars are adorable but not always practical. I've been known to have half my face in them occasionally. So excited for Florida I can barely contain myself. I'll be broke but it's going to be so much fun. I am practically twitching with anticipation at going to Whole Foods. I have never been in one before. And I am dying to know where there is a Trader Joe's cuz I've never been in one of those either. Sad life I lead right. Lol!
DeleteWe have no Trader Joe's in NE FL. It almost kept me from moving here, but I decided to come anyway. You will love Whole Foods. I could stand in the cheese section all day and just breathe.
DeleteI honestly don't even know what Trader Joe's is. I just see everyone talking about it. I must google it. Same with Whole Foods, I just know foodies love it and I think I read Reese Witherspoon shops at one. Lol! You and Ann must go in Whole Foods with me and try to restrain me a bit. I should probably look up what I am allowed to bring across the border and what will get me arrested. I really want black garlic. I've never seen it here.
DeleteYou would like Whole foods, I think. Maybe not all of their prices though. But it's all worth it: good food = good health; bad food 9with pesticides, genetically modified, etc.)= big medical bills. Trader Joe's is a very unique store. There are people who don't like it or it's theme. I am sure you will have a lot of fun! Thanks for stopping at my blog. Yes, I did bought a new camera. I thought you'd be participating in the naming it... Lol
ReplyDeleteI am on a serious budget so hoping I don't crack in that place. I have to look Trader Joe's up, I honestly really have no idea what it is other than most foodies rave about it. I am so excited to see these places. I am so isolated here in boonieland. I just stopped back at your blog. In all my camera envy I forgot to suggest a name. You could just call it Kim's Jealous Rage.
DeleteNo one can say you don't know how to be a good hostess because you're being very kind making a dip for an event you would not partake in. :) I have discovered I have my own quirky food issues... I'm working hard to tackle them too. I could NEVER eat fruit or nuts in my savory food and I'm making some small head way there. I still would gag if someone put strawberries, oranges or apples in a savory salad... that's what fruit salad are for.. :)
ReplyDeleteI laughed when I saw this cuz I was making rice with nuts and dried fruit. I could have never done that a year ago. But I'm with you on sweet/savory combos. I usually like my fruit with other fruit. Not on meat.
DeleteHaha, I have never seen football but I would gladly eat this scrumptious dish - I am just saying ;)
ReplyDeleteFeel free to drop by and I will swap you some cookies!
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
You are too kind. Sounds like a plan. Cookies are always good to swap with.
DeleteOh, I am so going with The Mom Chef, miracle whip, who eats that, but as far as the food touching, I am with you there girl. And then dips, people dip and then dip again, I didn't see that person turn that chip around to the other side. Lasty I hate football, when the Steelers lost I had to put up with 2 days of whine, whine. You live in Florida now babe, get over it. Oh yeah, we will be having brunch at Whole Foods on the Sunday. I have never been to Trader Joe's either, none in my vicinity. Looking forward to meeting you.
ReplyDeleteLol, must be a Canuck thing. I honestly generally don't buy mayo or anything resembling mayo so was surprised I even had the ingredients for this one. I hate double dippers. It's just so wrong. I am so excited for Whole Foods I can barely contain myself. Also looking forward to meeting you. This is going to be such a wonderful trip. Meeting people and getting to learn more about blogging from my blog idols, plus getting to go on a much needed trip with the fam. I just get speechless thinking about it.
DeleteI hope you're feeling better! I'm not big on dips either, but I would totally eat this one. The superbowl comes on at 2am here, so I'll be "boycotting" as well (actually I'll be sleeping!) LOL about the girly movies, although I don't remember Last of the Mohicans being so girly :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, it's probably going to be weeks or months before the foot heals but I shall power through as I always do. I would sleep through it too, in fact that's not a bad idea. Oh and have you seen Daniel Day Lewis in Last of the Mohicans, I consider any movie where I drool on the floor and forget I am married to be a chick flick. Lol!
DeleteHaha! You sound just like my husband with your food "rules". Unless it's salsa or guacamole, he won't really touch any dips. Well, I love 'em and this dip looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteI like one dip which is a fruit dip. Sad I know. Lucky for me the fam is not as picky as I am. Love knowing there are other weirdos like me with tons of food rules.
Deletethis looks like a nice dip for chips
ReplyDeleteYeah, all the TVs will be blaring here, too! I think I'll be on the computer...waiting for funny commercials...
ReplyDeleteYou are such a good sport...making a delicious dip for the family. Your pickiness would fit right in here...I guess I've married and given birth to lunatics...LOL. You might as well start packing your bags :) xx
You're a better chef than me! If I'm not going, I'm not making :) Fabulous dip, darling! I'll save this recipe for the next Bayern Munich game. Some of us actually prefer watching 'football'...you know, the game you play with your feet!
ReplyDeleteBUZZED
Sounds like a delicious dip. Perfect for Game Day!
ReplyDeleteI love dips. I would like to do a potluck where everyone brings a different dip, and just eat nothing but dips for dinner. This dip looks like a great one to whip up for unexpected guests, the only problem for me is there would never be chips just sitting around. Chips disappear fast around here.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in Florida, I'm so jealous! You deserve a break and to meet all of your wonderful foodie friends in person. Enjoy every second!
xo,Christie
What a great idea to serve this yummy dip in mason jars. The dip looks so pretty and each person could have their own container and then it would be ok to double dip!
ReplyDeleteI don't really do dip either, but I do it for when people come over (who enjoy dip)!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!
Haha, this made me laugh. I am pretty picky but I think you definitely win the title of pickiest eater.
ReplyDeleteThe jars are a great touch.
LOL I own all of the movies you mentioned on DVD I think... But I do love football and dip! Would you die if I told you I had 3 types of dip today. Hahaha so cute in the jars too!
ReplyDeleteWe try to avoid the chips/dip thing...most of the time :) But I will say that individual jars are a great idea for eliminating that double-dipping problem with guests. As for the Superbowl, well I don't really care about sports but considering that a New York team was playing, we were compelled to watch...and celebrate when they won! Congrats on the Top 9.
ReplyDeleteHello :) Just came across your blog for the first time! Congrats for being Top 9 :)
ReplyDeleteI love nachos and dips ~ And i think it's a great idea to have individual jars for guests, I have an issue with double dipping with people that I don't know or aren't close to ~ Thanks for sharing the recipe ~
What a great idea Kim..I love your dip(that sounded wrong???)
ReplyDeleteI was watching the game a little bit but I loved the commercials..Great post! Congrats on the top 9!!!
Who needs dishes and glasses when you have jars! I could have saved a lot of money as I am a dish junky. Your dip sounds great and I love the idea of serving it in a jar. Great idea and I will have to make a trip to the hardware store for jars and I am not even a guy! Have you ever done chili in a jar and baked cornbread on top. TFS
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious dip that is so easy to make. Congratulations on Foodbuzz Top 9:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious dip:) So easy to make, too. Congratulations on Foodbuzz Top 9.
ReplyDeleteHaha, NICE. I love your food phobias. Good lord, they touch. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious and nicely un-double-dippable, of everyone gets their own jar.
i share the sentiments about sports, find it the most boring thing ever :D the dip looks yummy
ReplyDeleteKim, watch out, we have Whole Foods here in Oregon and we tend to call it Whole Paycheck. It's fantastic, but expensive.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Trader Joe's is AWESOME!
