Farm Fresh Fridays- Road Trip Edition - Photo Story!

This is the horror we awoke to today. Mini-me's deck was vandalized by some unruly squirrels. I forgot the feed them yesterday so this is their revenge. I swear there was a note taped to the patio door that read "This is just a warning, the rest of them get it tomorrow if you forget again."

So I quickly grabbed the dried fruit and nuts hubs had brought home from the store and made a peace offering!

Road trip bathroom stop #1, I have IBS so we stop A LOT!

The water in Leamington!

Bad pic but gives you a bit of an idea of where we were driving through.

Mini-me stayed in the car with her graphic novel. Hrmph, teenagers!

Mini-me takes bad pictures! Lol!

Winery, we did  not stop, just showing ya!

Sign for Pelee Island Winery!

Fruit stand place #1

Nice right!

So pretty! I have lots of these mallows in different shades in my yard. Bought some here so thought it was appropriate.

Score! I got a basil plant for $1.50 at fruit stand #1! Yup, my suv is a pig  pen. Or rather a horse pen. That's Ginger's food, Ginger's stool (not that Ginger stands on it, she's a horse for pete's sake, mini-me uses it to massage the beasts), that red basket is from a vacation 4 years ago and has Ginger's treats in it. It's funny my house is spotless but my car, well, meh!

Fruit stand #2

#2 still

Fruit stand #3

#3- so pretty and tons of stuff

Weird building down by the point!

Odd right?!

Weeping willows

Corn fields as far as the eye can see down by Point Pelee

By Point Pelee, mini-me taking a bad shot

She needs classes or something!

We didn't go in but wanted to show you the sign!

Entrance, we'll go back and take pics from in there another day.

Mini-me rocking the camera again. Seriously mini-me, how do you time these so perfectly? Rofl!

Heading back from the point!

Mini-me and her awesome camera skills! I'd like to tell you it's a famous fence rail but I'd be lying.

Stopping for lunch!

Yup, we had fish n chips.

Perch to be exact, not my fave but they didn't have small lunch portions in haddock or halibut.

Nom nom nom, yummy fries in a basket!

Sign from lunch!

Patio shot!

Mini-me taking a pic of the famous golf cart. *shrugs shoulders*

Dock

Thought this was hilarious!

Mini-me redeems herself, love this shot!

More corn fields, we are famous for corn. It is THAT good!

The Bounty of the County!

Score!

Pepperapoolza!

NOT weed! It's basil, seriously people, get your  minds out of the gutter!

Apparently mini-me's skills are right on par with the mama, I forgot to take the sticker off the bowl.

More bounty of the county!

I hear angels singing when I look a this!

It's that good!

And when it's that good you make plans for tomorrow to slather it in butter and salt!!!

Bought these at fruit stand #1!

Apparently I did not actually look at it before I bought it! *falls down laughing*

Seriously I paid good money for this. And the cat says "I can't even look at you right now, how could you buy something that hideous. Look away mom, look away!"
Toodles and smoochies. xx

#apieformikey made but posting in the morning as the light is not going to work at 2 am.

  1. I am jealus of those long red peppers.Even in the summer capsicum is so expansive here..when I find cheaper ones I chargrill them, peel them and freeze them in marinade of oil and garlic. They can be defrosted and eaten as a salad or I fill them with mince rice onion garlic and herbs and spices:)Nice ride you had there:)

  4. That looks like such a fun day!!! I want corn like that! Yum! So nice to see different countryside and shops to what I see here. I should do that one day when we take a road trip. You may see the bush or the beach, depending on which direction we go. :)

  7. @Dzoli-We had no idea what those peppers were when we saw them. And we had a good chuckle over them. They had them outside with a sign that said $12. Me and Kiana were thinking wow those are some pricey peppers. So when we went in we saw they had the sign for something else there by mistake. They were 75 cents a piece. We had to laugh. I hear they are really sweet so I am thinking grilled. Then maybe some on grilled pizza. We had a ball. And Mini-me eats fish now so I am on a mission to eat it everywhere. lol

@Quay Po Cooks- Thanks and I laughed my head off at your comment about the cat. Made me roar with laughter. lol

@Simply Life- Thanks, so much fun. Spent a fortune and need to cook for days to use it all.

@Amy- Rofl, aren't they sad little things. I wanted some for when Bray does dishes. I love my pink one too much to use it so I use it as a photo prop. Lol. Any time you want to make more I'd be pleased as punch. Luckily these were cheap. A couple bucks. I was just floored I didn't notice as I tend to be so picky. Must have been on a veggie high or something. Isn't K a hoot, she cracked me up. Such impeccable timing this kid has.

mjskit- Thanks. It was a fun and prosperous day for all. The woven uneven things are knitted dish cloths I usually love but I did not inspect them, got them home and howled with laughter over how uneven they were.

  11. Kim - that looked like an awesome trip! I have to say...those dish cloths are the BEST! Anytime I see them, I always purchase them. I probably have a dozen or so and if they ever go, I'll cry! Nice score on the basil plant!

  13. We were just in that area on our road trip!!! So fun!

  14. @Culinary Lens- Oh we had a ball. Gone for hours, stopped all over the place. I never spent so much on veggies in my life. Lol! Now what to do with it all? Rofl, those squares are so sad, I think someone's kid made them.

@Anne- Thanks, we had fun. Will do this again next week. Those dishcloths had me laughing so hard. I probably would not have bought them if I'd known they were that badly done.lol

@Ann- I almost forgot I bought the plant. I think I'll go nab a few leaves for something I am cooking up. So cheap. I have a friend who made me a dishcloth but I won't use it as it's a sentimental item. So I had to buy a couple to use.

@Stephanie- Thanks, they are cute right.

@kristy- So cool. I love Leamington. If I could afford a place on the water I'd do it in a heartbeat. Or a farm, I'd love a farm to keep our horsey.
