Farm Fresh Friday- Our Trip to St. Jacob's Ontario Photo Story

SNACKS FOR THE ROAD, YUP THERE'S PISTACHIOS

WAY TOO EARLY TO BE UP AND ON THE ROAD
I FEEL LIKE SINGING "ON THE ROAD AGAIN, I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO GET ON THE ROAD AGAIN..."

AS WE LEAVE ESSEX COUNTY AND GET CLOSE TO ST. JACOB'S WE ARE THRILLED TO SEE ROLLING HILLS

BUT SO BUMMED WHEN WE SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THE PARKING LOT

IT'S ALL GOOD THOUGH AS I GET TO GO SEE PEDDLARS AND A VILLAGE

BUT THEN I SEE HORDES OF PEOPLE AGAIN

THEN HAPPY AGAIN WHEN I SEE THE HORSEYS

AND THIS IS WHERE I START JUMPING UP AND DOWN IN EXCITMENT

AND MINI-ME (YOU CAN SEE HER ARM THERE) TELLS ME TO MELLOW OUT

AND BEGS ME NOT TO STEAL THE MOPED AND RIDE AROUND ON IT

I BEHAVED THEN MADE LADIES MAD BY TAKING PICTURES OF THEIR BEHINDS, NOT ON PURPOSE BUT THEY WERE STILL MAD

MOST PEOPLE WOULD STOP BUT I JUST KEPT TAKING PICTURES OF  MORE  BEHINDS, IT'S HARD TO AVOID HERE

I MADE A MENTAL NOTE TO GO BACK FOR THESE THEN LOST  MY MENTAL NOTE

AND MAY HAVE SANG "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC"  REALLY LOUD WHEN I SAW THESE

THEN WAS DISTRACTED BY THE HUGE MELONS

THEN SOMEHOW GOT CAUGHT UP IN CHERRIES AND BOUGHT $20 WORTH, WHO NEEDS THAT MANY

SERIOUSLY WHO CAN RESIST ALL THIS FRUIT

I WANTED SOME OF THESE BUT THEY WOULDN'T FIT IN MINI-ME'S BAG

I WAS SUPPOSE TO GO BACK FOR THESE TOO CUZ HER BAG WAS FULL AND SHE WAS FALLING OVER

BUT THEN I SAW THESE AND WENT CUCKOO

HERE IS WHERE I JUST STARTED TO TWITCH AS IT WAS ALL TOO MUCH FOR LITTLE OLD ME

HERE'S WHERE I SAID WTF ARE THESE, THEN MINI-ME GOT MAD I SWORE IN THE AMISH VILLAGE

SO I BOUGHT HER SOME APPLES AS A PEACE OFFERING

AND LOTS OF BREAD CUZ IT'S HARD TO YELL AT YOUR MOM WITH BREAD IN YOUR MOUTH

HERE'S WHERE WE RESISTED THE URGE TO OVERLOAD ON JAMS  SO I DON'T NEED A JAM FRIDGE

MINI-ME BOUGHT HER BRO SOMETHING HERE

HERE IS WHERE MINI-ME SCORED CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES,  SHE STOLE ALL MINE, OH OKAY SO I GAVE THEM TO HER BUT THAT SOUNDS LESS EXCITING

I ASKED THE PASTRY DUDE IF I COULD TAKE A PIC

THEN TOOK ANOTHER

AND ANOTHER, THEN BOUGHT ONE OF EVERYTHING, HE REALLY LIKED ME AND MINI-ME GOT LOTS OF FREE SAMPLES

I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THESE BUT I HAD OVERLOADED MINI-ME'S BAG AGAIN, WE WERE ON TRIP 3 TO THE CAR AT THIS POINT

HERE'S WHERE I HAD MEMORIES OF MY MOM, SHE DID CERAMICS, WHICH IS  NOT THE SAME AS POTTERY BUT THAT'S WHERE MY MIND WENT

I WAS DROOLING OVER THIS BUT DIDN'T WANT TO EAT UNTIL WE WERE ALMOST DONE FOR THE DAY

I WANT A SIGN LIKE THIS IN MY HOUSE

AND ONE LIKE THIS TOO ON THE ROOF

NOT THIS THOUGH, THAT MEANS PEOPLE WOULD INTERRUPT ME WHILE COOKING AND WE ALL KNOW I HATE THAT

THIS MADE ME HOWL WITH LAUGHTER AND EMBARRASS MINI-ME

SO I FIGURED WALKING THROUGH THE BUILDING WITH THE FLASH GOING OFF EVERY 5 SECONDS WOULD NOT SEND HER OVER THE EDGE

BUT I WAS WRONG, SHE WAS NOT PLEASED

SO I SHOULD STOP RIGHT? YAH LIKE THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN

LOOK AT THE ANGRY MOB OF PEOPLE I TOOK PICTURES OF

BUT I WASN'T SCARED SO I TOOK MORE...AT A SAFE DISTANCE OF COURSE

THEN GOT SCARED BY THESE DOLLS, SERIOUSLY...FRIGHTENING

BUT THEN I WAS HAPPY AGAIN CUZ I SAW MINI HORSEYS

ONE OF MANY TRIPS BACK TO THE CAR AS MINI-ME IS NOT HE-MAN AND CANNOT CARRY EVERYTHING I BOUGHT

THIS WAS ON OUR WAY TO TOWN WHERE THE MILL STORES ARE

SO PRETTY RIGHT, MINI-ME TAKES GOOD PICS

MY FAVE PLACE, THIS IS THE OLD MILL THEY HAVE ALL THE LITTLE SHOPS IN

ER, STREET

DO NOT TELL MINI-ME I PUT THIS ON HERE, SHE WILL KILL ME, OR POKE ME TO DEATH

I WAS VERY DISTRACTED BY THIS MOVING DISPLAY CASE, APPARENTLY I DON'T GET OUT MUCH

MORE PEOPLE'S BEHINDS AND THE OIL AND SAUCE BAR, SERIOUSLY ...HOW COOL IS THIS PLACE

HERE'S ME MAKING PEOPLE MAD BY TAKING MORE PICS...OF MORE BEHINDS....AND THE CANDY SHOP

MINI-ME TRYING TO PRETEND SHE DOES NOT KNOW THE LUNATIC WHO'S TAKING THOUSANDS OF PHOTOS

I WISH I LIVED ON A STREET LIKE THIS

I DISTRACTED MINI-ME WITH BOOKS

THEN OFFERED HER ICE CREAM BUT SHE DECLINED, I SNAPPED THIS ANYWAY, IT'S OUR USUAL PLACE TO STOP FOR ICE CREAM

ER, TREE

OKAY IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE THIS GARLIC BREAD EMAIL ME STAT!!!!

IT WAS SO GOOD ME AND MINI-ME ENDED UP EATING THE WHOLE THING BY OURSELVES, NO LEFTOVERS

THEN WE HAD FISH N CHIPS, IT'S WHAT WE DO

ER, HOW DID THAT GET IN HERE

BACK SHOT OF THE MILL

MY FAVE SHOT OF THE DAY

WHAT I BROUGHT HOME, WTH ARE THESE, I KNOW THEY'RE BEANS BUT WHAT KIND

  1. What fun! I wish I could have tagged along! I would have jumped on that moped, grabbed a huge cantelope - while I wore my horse apron and ate fish and chips! :)

  4. What a glorious time you had! That looks like a place I could get lost in happily! Great haul you have too! Question: Why would anyone have a movable or moving display case for glass bottles? That gives me the heebie-jeebies!

  6. What a GREAT trip! The beans are cranberry beans and Jamie Oliver has a really terrific recipe for them. It's on my list-of-things-to-make-before-I'm-too-old-to-enjoy-them!

You got quite a haul and lots of "behind" pictures! A great day...

  7. @ConCon- I could not stop laughing at your comment.

@Amy- Oh my I would love a market bag so much. These gloves are so cool. I have shorty pink ones I use at the barn that I adore. But they are thin so I can work with the leather and whatnot. You must visit next summer and come with us on a day trip. I can marry you off to B while you're here. Lol!

@Anne- Thanks. I am so happy to finally be able to go on trips again. Been a long trip-less few years here. I now need to make up for it.

    @Michelle- Thanks so much.

@Ping- Lol, it was so weird. I think they must have the bottles secured with double sided tape or something. I'd never seen one of these things. Shows how often I get out. Lol!

@Dzoli- It is such a cool place to visit. My only sad point is not seeing the authentic horse and buggies the Amish use to travel. We did last time we were there. I heard one while I was buying my apron but the lady in the store assured me that I'd see tons more due to church. We did not see any. So weird. I don't count the tour ones as it's not authentic.

@Ann- SO fun! Thank you so much. I was going to have to google those things. I am going to try them out tomorrow while they are still fresh and purty. Lol. I really did get a ton of butt shots. *sigh*

  8. Looks like such a fun time! Great photos. I wish we had markets with that much variety in fresh fruit here (especially the cherries and peaches!) Ironically, to eat South Africa's finest fruits, you have to go to Europe, where it's all exported to. We're left with the scraggly bits :-(

  9. No doubt this was a fun escapade! Looks like you brought back a lot of goodies. Now I am ready to get in the car and head for the nearest farmers market! Have a great weekend.

  10. I really LOVE to be there :D All that photos makes me drool and I adore that muffin tin :) That raspberries makes me think of making a raspberry cheesecake ice cream but sadly raspberry here is quiet expensive pfttttt *sigh*

  11. I want to come with you next time!!! You are one super shopper. I'll bring Katie along and she and mini-you can both roll their eyes at us...and refuse to be in any pictures. I can SO relate. What a fabulous haul. Have a great weekend!xoxo

  12. That is officially the best, most jealousy invoking post I've seen in the last few days. I want that coffee! I want half (or more) of everything you got. It is so hot and dry down here in Texas I could just cry. Thanks for sharing and allowing me to pretend I was walking along with you (and I wouldn't have gotten mad if you took pictures of the butt - so long as there's no face involved, who's to know?).

  13. Oooh, I love St. Jacob's!! When we visit my parents in Orangeville we always try to make a trip there...the market is TO DIE FOR isn't it?? And the little jam-packed antique stores in town are so fun! Love your picture tour!!

  17. I'm pretty sure once I got to the Desserts area, I would have never moved. They'd be closing up shop and I'd still be there, in heaven.....with my husband and kids. We're dessert people, especially if chocolate is involved.
How did you even tear yourself away from that booth of amazing gourmet desserts? You've got will power!
    Visiting from vB.

  18. I feel like I was there with you! Great post. PS - Living in Florida, I get a chuckle out of the "winter" coats. ;.)))))))

  19. I enjoyed lots and lots of photos while drinking tea... it was nice to see another beautiful place thanks to your blog!

  20. @Juanita- Thanks. That is not good they export your stuff out. We're pretty lucky with fruit stands here. Farmer's markets are a bit more of a drive but it's so fun to take little trips. During the summer we have an abundance then it gets super expensive to get stuff over the winter. But I try to buy some anyway.

@Tina- Thanks. You should hop in your car and drive here and we can go to one together. Simple and fun solution. Lol!

@Anne- Glad you enjoyed this. We have some fruits that the prices skyrocket on over winter. Usually oranges get really expensive. But I love them so much I have to buy some no matter what.

@Lizzy- Now that sounds like a plan. I would love that. It would be fun to see how the girls react to two misbehaved and silly mommies on the loose. Enjoy your weekend too.

@Debbi- Thanks so much. We hadn't been away like this is so long. It was so fun. I had such a great time. I feel the same as you, no one knows who's butt it is. I got one of some ladies face as she walked by and Kiana thought she was going to deck me one. Lol!

@Anna- It is the coolest place. I was hoping to have time to hit Elora too but ran out of time. The shops are so cool, I love the mill. And the restaurants are killer. I just thought it was odd we never saw the horse and buggies this time. Strange.

@Stephanie- Thanks so much. We sure did have fun. It was so nice to get away and forget about stress for a day.

@Chef Dennis- Thanks. We had so much fun. It is such a neat little town. I made a dish with the beans but I have to say it was just okay, nothing great. Wish they retained their color when cooking. The pods are so gorgeous.

@Christine- Thanks. It was so great to get away for a day.

@Akheela- Thanks so much. It's such a pretty place.

@Staci- Lol, we just ate all his samples and cleared his shelves. Once we ate everything we could move on. Plus I knew there was a candy store down the road. I bought so much junk food it's ridiculous. We had a blast.

@Mary Kay- Thanks. I am always so surprised what babies people are when they pull out coats before it's even that cold. Lol. Mini-me had a shirt, sweatshirt and a coat. I had on capris and a tank top. People looked at me like I was nuts. But how is 65 cold. Lol!

@Nami- Thanks my dear. I love sharing these ones with people. It's so much fun.
