Looks like a terrific trip to the market! I say GRILL the okra! Wash, drizzle with olive oil, salt & pepper and GRILL!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann. We had a blast. I have never had okra but wanted to try it out. Grilling sounds fun. Maybe I'll grab some steaks to go with it tonight.
ReplyDeleteI love this pictorial journal of your day. It looks like you had a great day except of course for the car jam, but I think you made lots of friends with your survival treats. I want to be close to you in my next car jam!
ReplyDeleteI am still not brave enough to try cooking okra. The whole slime factor has me grossed out.
ReplyDeleteI love Smashbox lip gloss :-)
I got stuck on the freeway on the way from an hour and 1/2 road trip for FOUR HOURS with my mother-in-law. It wasn't as bad as it sounds but at one point she had to go the bathroom and there was NOTHING to be done about it, so I pulled out a piece of paper and wrote TOILET on it and then stuck it in my back window where a man and a woman were riding in their HUGE RV. Yop, they let us use the loo in their RV. so nice. They then called a local radio station to let everyone how they were helping people stuck in the traffic. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had great trip..Love your goodies..
ReplyDeleteby the way I feel about okra as you feel about pickles::)))you know what I mean... not my forte:)))
Wow, what a lot of interesting photos. Thanks for sharing your trip. Loved the good Samaritan thing you did in the traffic jam. :) We lived in Ontario. I've lived in Waterloo, in Coburg, in Burlington and in Toronto. Then we went West to Calgary and then further west to Vernon/Kelowna in the interior of B.C.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a fun filled shopping day!! I love going into the chocolate shops to smell....the smell is soooo wonderful! A great way to kick off the long weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is probably how i would photograph my trip.Just today I got picturs from St.Jacobs Farmers Market aboutb 120km from Ontario;) Can I use some of your for the blog about market day in?Will link it back to your blog?:)
ReplyDelete@savoryandsavage- I have never even eaten okra so we'll see how this goes. Lol. I was so excited to find the lip gloss. I thought they had discontinued my shade. So happy they had it.
ReplyDelete@Gwenevere- That is a long wait. I was so worried about my tummy. We had just eaten before we left which I had already thought was a bad idea. So with the IBS I was sure we were going to have to find a camper somewhere in the lineup. Luckily it held out and I was fine. We had so much fun though. I lol'd at the radio station thing, too funny.
@Sandra- Lol, I am so unsure about the okra. But I am going to give it a whirl. We had a ball. Lots of giggling and silliness.
@Jennifer- Thanks. I like to share so seemed like the thing to do. Waterloo is nice. My son was just in Kelowna for a conference this year. My sis met him there as they live on one of the gulf islands. I am thinking we might relocate to B.C. or Alberta this year if hubs can't find work here. I've always wanted to live closer to my sister.
@Lo-mo- The chocolate shop made me so happy. Love that kind of stuff. We had way too much fun.
@Dzoli- We are going to St Jacobs in about 2 weeks. Going to be a blast. Haven't been there in years. It is the coolest place in Ontario I think. You may certainly use my stuff for your market day. I'd be touched.
I am so jealous! My three favorite things are sephora, Farmers markets and rocky mtn chocolate factory! I miss them all so much... I love your pictures, I am completely living vicariously through you right now. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you did a London road trip. I had forgotten there was one in Ontario. So cool that your a hostess even in a traffic jam.
ReplyDeleteI would have neither the cash nor the garden for that beautiful furniture.
Don't you just love farmers markets you really did get some wonderful finds
What a fun day!!! And I cracked up thinking about you sharing your cashew brittle on the road...I bet you made a LOT of new friends. And what a score at Sephora!
ReplyDeleteOh MAN! I wish i'd had your day! There's zero shopping in Cayman unless you wanna pay out of control prices so I'm totally jealous! Especially those candy apples!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the great shade that you love in lip gloss?
ReplyDeleteI'm in CA so your little road trip would take some time for me. Loved your pix and your comments; I would have spent most of my time at Sephora and the chocolate shop but the veggies looked great. Felt the frustation from the tie-up on the road; hate, hate that. So nice of you to give water to people with dogs. Will do that.
ReplyDeleteWe'd love you to join us on FFwD...you can skip weeks if you'd like...and I tweak quite a few of the recipes. It's my favorite blogger group :)
ReplyDeleteI feel so happy just reading about your happy escapades. London and Essex yet so far away from England. Lucky the people didn't finish all your loot. Any more watermelons? Love those.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt this was a fun day, even if you were stuck in traffic part of the time. Outdoor markets are great. Looks like you brought back a lot of goodies, thanks for sharing your adventure!
ReplyDeleteKim..You have awards on my blog:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a day! What a great haul! Glad you did well on the longer trip! : )
ReplyDeleteI like the chocolate covered brownie. I need one too...
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to London, Ont in a zillion years. My dad grew up there and my grandmother used to live there, but back when I used to visit, it didn't have a farmer's market OR a Sephora!
ReplyDelete@Dawnie- We had so much fun. I have not been in Sephora for over 2 years so this was a blast. Feel free to live vicariously, I do it myself often.
ReplyDelete@The Culinary Lens- Lol, after I read your comment I though wow, I should have been clearer. People were probably hoping to get a glimpse of London England. I need to remember I have a wide audience beyond my friends here locally on facebook. Lol. That furniture was calling my name, but like you I have no cash for such things. I have the garden but not the dough. Love farmer's markets. Going to St. Jacobs' in 2 weeks. That should be a hoot.
@Lizzie- Needless to say doggies and old ladies loved me on the highway. I had so much fun. Still in awe of Sephora.
@Parsey Sage- I can imagine. We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon and I was shocked how much they charged for things like shampoo and water. Basic needs were out of control. Luxury items were out of reach. Island life is rough, pretty but rough. My sis is on an island and I know she has a hard time with shopping.
@Mary- Radient...love it!
@Rescie- Thanks so much! I wish I lived where you do. It's pretty boring here landscape wise.
@Lizzy- I may join. That and the secret recipe club. I need to do a recipe index as soon as the kids go back to school so I can join things and make things easier for people. Seems like so much fun.
@Adora's Box- Lol, I really should have put London, not England. I held some loot back, a girl has to protect her goodies. Yup, making something fun with them. Stay tuned.
@Tina- Thanks. We had so much fun.
@Dzoli- Shall pop by to pick them up soon. Been enjoying our holiday weekend too much and have barely been online. Thanks in advance. No wonder I adore you.
@Anne- Thanks. I was surprised I didn't have problems considering we ate just before we hit the road. Lucky gal that day.
@Elena- So good. For some reason I only picked up one so we had to all share it. Lol!
@Carolyn- It's a great place to shop. The back story is my daughter used to have health problems so we went there about twice a year for tests and treatment. Every time we took her out to eat after as she always had to fast pre-test/treatments. So we always made a day of it if she felt okay after. We would go to an all you can eat buffet and then we'd go shopping. So she's been well for about 4 years now and we never go there. She missed the shopping so I promised to take her once her dad was back to work. So his first paycheck from his new job went to treating us to a much needed girls day. Without all the icky hospital stress. So this was an extra special day. Our first trip to London with her a well young lady. Very special.
