Toll House Cookie Pizza with Nutella Ganache and Skor Toppings for Burwell's Vintage Recipe Swap

Yes indeedy, you did read that correctly! I made a toll house cookie pizza. I had a blast doing it too! I have never made a cookie pizza before so this was going out on a limb for me. I had no idea whether it would work out or be a big old floppy mess. I've also never tried nor cooked with nutella before so this was going out on a limb and hanging by one hand for me. But I thought what the heck, that's what these kind of groups are for. They make us push past our comfort zone and try new things. I have to say I was pushed but I think I held my ground quite well. Then end product is an ooey, gooey, chewy pizza with some pizzazz! Lol!

I really wanted to keep it a cookie and not venture too far off that. I thought about making ice cream which would have been super yummy. I thought about turning it into a brownie or a bar which also would have been amazing. I even considered making the cookie an ice cream bowl and then filling it with cookie dough ice cream. Which is quite possibly something I will be doing soon cuz that just sounds slamming good. Yet I kept going back to toll house being such a cookie icon that I wanted to figure out a way to stay cookie but make a few changes. This is what I came up with. So hopefully you like it. I know we did.

Toll House Cookie Pizza with Nutella Ganache and Skor Toppings:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons whole milk
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla salt
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla

For ganache:

3/4 cup Nutella
1/2 cup heavy cream

Topping:

1/2 cup Skor toffee bits

Directions for the cookie portion:

In your stand mixer combine butter and both sugars, mix until blended well.

Add your egg and mix.

Add your whole milk and mix.

Now add your flour, vanilla salt and baking soda and mix on low until combined.

Now add vanilla and chocolate chips and mix by hand.

Spread on a parchment lined round pizza pan.

It is helpful to start in middle and push outwards. Smooth as best you can.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and let cool.

Directions for the nutella ganache:

Recipe from In Good Taste

Scoop Nutella into a medium sized bowl.

In a small saucepan warm your milk until it just starts to boil.

Pour it over the nutella and whisk until smooth.

Directions for putting it all together:

Once your cookie pizza is cool you may start your ganache.

Once your ganache is ready (instructions above) you can pour that onto the cookie pizza. It is best to start pouring it right in the middle of the pizza and let it work it's way outwards. You can smooth it with the back of a spoon to help the process.

Let this cool slightly.

Now sprinkle Skor toffee bits over top.

Cut with a pizza cutter.

Serve with a smile.

Tips and Hints:

Spraying utensils with pam spray helps smooth out the cookie and the nutella easier.

Lining the pizza pan with parchment is really helpful.

You can refrigerate this to help harden up the ganache a bit if you like.

Did I tell you how much I love Nutella now. Omg this stuff rocks! I am now an addict. Just warning ya now.

So I sure hope you enjoyed this recipe as much as we did. I have to say I am really loving this Vintage Recipe Swap. 3. I don't see why you bothered to slice it at all. I'd just chomp on the whole thing myself ... one big, giant cookie, just the way I like it!

  4. I love this! Who needs to make lots of holiday cookies, just make one big one! :) I always want a big cookie cake all for myself though, I'd have to bring it to work so I didn't eat the whole thing!

  5. First of all, I love the name of your blog...I often call myself a lunatic and think it is the perfect name for a food blog. Secondly, holy moly this pizza looks good...every layer just gets better and better. Can't wait to try this out!

  6. OK you had be at the title. Nutella and Skor are my favorite of all time candy treats to enjoy... you know that little stand when you check out at the grocery store... somehow a Skorbar always jumps off the stand, skips over my cart and lands right on that belt. Dang, your pizza looks good!

  7. I considered a real big cookie or a pizza and you have managed to make me crave one big time. I might have to slather with Biscoff spread instead of Nutella but either way. It's a YUM!

  9. @Christianna- Thanks so much. I am having a blast with this swap stuff. I love recipe development, my heart just lies there so this is so much fun for me. You shall see me every month. I am really enjoying myself beyond words! So happy I was able to join!

@Jeannie- Lol, it is a kid pleaser. Mine are older but my daughter keeps nabbing some. She is super picky too so I wasn't sure she'd go for it. She's had a couple slices already.

@Ping- I thought about doing that but the slice looked better for pictures. So purely an artistic decision. Lol!

@Wilde in the Kitchen- Lol, I wish I had thought of that for the cookie swap I'm doing. Just slide one whole pizza in the box.

@Alli- Lol, so I am not the only one. I swear my two fave words are lunatic and hooligan. Let me know what you think. I am so impressed by the chewiness of the cookie. It doesn't get hard like some others I've made.

@Camilla- Okay I never do this but if you like skor go all the way back through my archives to a recipe in March when I started called "Sex on the WTF". I am telling you that you will lose your mind when you try it. Best dessert ever. And super easy. If you like skor bars it's a must try!!!

@Barbara- Oh that sounds yummy. Biscoff, nutella, peanut butter, marshmallows, the possibilities are endless. I love making people have cravings.

@Shumaila- Hey girl, nice to see you! Thanks so much. I had so much fun with this one. Will be making more cookie pizzas in the future. Super yummy in the tummy!

  24. Woohoo pizza! I think this is the perfect cookie recipe for a pizza, actually. The dough seems to rise a lot when baking and hardens into a pretty stiff cookie afterwards, without being too hard or crunchy.
The Nutella ganache looks like a perfect perfect addition ! My little houses could have used some ganache details on them.

  25. Looks awesome! with all that gooey Nutella! Can I have some?

@Nami- Lol, I am good about sweets. I can have one and be fine with it. Now salty treats are a whole different ball game. Plus my son is 23 and lives at home. Sometimes I don't even get to try my baked goods, him and hubs inhale food at an alarming rate. And never gain weight. Peeves me off. Lol!

@momdecuisine- Thanks and you should borrow my son. He also does dishes so not only does he inhale copious amounts of baked goods but he does dishes.

@The Cozy Herbivore- Lol, it sure is drool inducing. I really had fun with this one in a big bad way.
